Hosmer Grove, at the 7,000 ft level a short drive from the rangers office: A shelter is provided for inclement weather, tent sites, cooking site, pit toilets, water, picnic tables. There is no charge but permits are necessary. Park headquarters (808) 572-9306. Pools of Ohe`o, Kipahulu District, near Hana, Tent camping, toilets, picnic tables, BBQ grills. Both available as first come first serve. Inside Haleakala crater are two primitive tent camp-sites one at Paliku cabin the other at Holua cabin.There are three cabins inside the crater, they must be reserved well in advance, as these are very popular with Residents as well as Visitors. Paliku, Holua and Kapalaoa Cabins: Fully self contained. With stoves, water and pit toilets. They can handle up to 12 campers each. bunks are provided. There is a small fee for cabin rental. Weather 871-5054. All sites are three nights maximum stay. When in Haleakala National Park please keep to the trails, this is enforced.
